Kirk, Ford and I spent the weekend down in Portland, Oregon. It was a business trip – we were both a vendor and a presenter for the Pacific Crest Trail Association’s Trail Fest.

My guys love homemade cookies (who doesn’t?) and I love making them, so it can be a win-win for us I had an idea for a somewhat better-for-you Snicker doodle. It isn’t super low in fat or calories, but has a lot less than a normal recipe! Still, is there a cookie that [...]

In my early 20’s one of the first “modern” cookbooks I picked up was a copy of Vegetarian Times Complete Cookbook. My copy came out in 1995 and at the time I was living a vegan diet. In 1995 finding even a 1/3rd of the ingredients in the book was nearly impossible (Internet shopping? Organics [...]

Kirk’s Grandmother sent me a birthday present recently – a copy of Cooking Up a Storm: Recipes Lost and Found from The Times-Picayune of New Orleans.
This is a book I have been scanning and poking through since it arrived midweek. A book full of history, of old recipes that came together after the flood of 2005. [...]
